The International Armaments Fair „Partner 2009” opened
Today, the Minister of Defense Dragan Šutanovac opened the 4th International Fair of Armaments and Defense Equipment „Partner 2009g, which gathers together 75 domestic and foreign exhibitors, from 13 different countries. On that occasion, Mr. Šutanovac stated that the organizers of the Fair could not even anticipate that it would develop from an event of local importance into an important international defense exhibition.
He reminded that the last yearfs export of armaments and defense equipment valued about US$ 400 million was the biggest in the period after 1991 and that, this year, a similar achievement in export is expected, thanks to, inter alia, the fair „Partner 2009g.
„I would like to stress that the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in the course of this year, will especially boost our defense industry, with the aim to reduce our foreign exchange deficit and to increase exports. This is one of the branches, where over 90% of its output is export-oriented, and we are convinced that, this year, despite the economic crisis, could be a successful and a good one for the manufacturers of defense industryg – the Minister Šutanovac stated, expressing his expectation that the visitors will have a lot to see.
The Director of the Belgrade Fair, Anđelko Trpković emphasized that the Fair of Armaments and Defense Equipment differs from the other 40 odd events, which are held here each year. As he put it, the fact that the first document related to this yearfs „Partnerg was signed at the Ministry of Defense two years ago, is a testimony of seriousness of preparations. Trpković stated that according to what is presented at the Fair, the Serbian defense industry has a future.
The fourth International Fair of Armaments and Defense Equipment „Partner 2009g is held in the period of June 2 to 5, 2009, at the grounds of the Belgrade Fair. This event was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, and the organizers were the Belgrade Fair and Yugoimport FDSP.
Yugoimport FDSP is appearing as the integrator of the leading Serbian defense industry factories, and six state-owned enterprises from that group will separately present ranges of their respective products. Also, institutes, overhaul depots, educational, healthcare, and other institutions of the defense system will present their capabilities, together with domestic producers of armaments and defense equipment, trading companies from defense-related fields, and important foreign partners.
This year at „Partnerg, foreign exhibitors will present their programs, too.
Among others, Polish Bumar, German Mehler Group, French Thales, Danish Firexpress will be present. Besides the exhibition, the Fair features the accompanying professional program, organized by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia and Yugoimport FDSP, as well as the commercial presentations of the participants.
The Fairfs exhibition program encompasses infantry and artillery armaments, combat and non-combat vehicles, armored vehicles and tanks, electronic surveillance and reconnaissance equipment, optoelectronics, telecommunications and signals equipment, C4I systems, radars and computer equipment, engineer equipment, anti-armor systems, protective and quartermaster equipment, military logistics, equipment and armaments for vehicles, aircraft, and watercrafts, commando and anti-terrorist equipment, ammunition and mines.
